Silver tabby Maine Coon with a curly, glistening ruff and exorbitant ear furnishings

Image
This is a very glamorous looking Maine Coon. He/she caught my eye on my travels around the internet. The ruff is curly which is unusual. The 'ear furnishings' as the cat fancy call them (ear hair) are copious and exorbitant. If he is male he is a prince among Maine Coons and if a female a princess. The face is very neutral making it hard to tell is this cat is male of female. Sometimes it is easy to tell the difference. -------- Please excuse the occasional typo due to preparing these articles at breakneck speed using Dragon Dictate. I don't have a proof reader.

My Maine Coon compared to my 5'5" girlfriend

Image
A picture of a cat entitled: My Maine Coon compared to my 5'5" girlfriend, by the photographer who uploaded to Reddit.com. My Maine Coon compared to my 5'5" girlfriend. This is 'as is' from Reddit. The guy who uploaded the photo is rather proud of the size of his Maine Coon and rightly so. However, not all Maine Coons are this large. Some are standard-sized almost . These very large individuals have a head size which is approaching that of a human which is extraordinary. This cat is silver tabby-and-white.  He has that obligatory shaggy ruff and the lynx-tipped triangular ears. I bet he's heavy after a while on her lap in front of the computer. Photographer to girlfriend: 'Hold it there darling while I snap that. It looks great. He looks enormous.'

Black silver blotched tabby Maine Coon kitten made in Russia

Image
This is a Maine Coon kitten described by his creator as: Silver boy Xavier, black silver blotched (ns22), 1,5 months. The breeder: Людмила Вяткина - ArmanPride Maine Coon cattery in Vladimir, Russia. I believe that 'ns22' is a reference to the WCF breed standard coat type. Silver blotched tabby Maine Coon kitten made in Russia. Either the lighting has produced this rusty coloured fur or the fur is indeed that colour. I think the latter assessment is correct which makes this big-footed, beautiful Maine Coon kitten so impressive. He's a tabby. You can tell quite clearly because of the 'M' mark on the forehead. I have said it before. The Russians breed the best Maine Coon cats. They are the most impressive. It's ironic bearing in mind the new Cold War between Russia and America and that the Maine Coon cat is their beloved American cat.

Huge silver tabby Maine Coon with jet black feet

Image
This is a very interesting looking Maine Coon cat. Firstly, as expected, this is a huge cat. The size is at the very top end of Maine Coon size. They do not come much bigger if at all. The cat is a silver tabby in my opinion and perhaps the more interesting aspect of this cat beyond his size is the jet black feet.  The Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) states this about the feet:  Paws large, round, well-tufted . 'Well tufted' means hair between the toes. The CFA does not show us cats like this on their website. Their champion Maine Coons are much more conventional in size. The hair between the toes, which sticks out at all angles, is black. You know, for MCs, there should be hair between the toes sticking out like this. The breeders like to see this. And it is all the more visible because of its dark colour. It contrasts very nicely with the shiny silver coat.  This cat is about the size of a Canada lynx which is remarkable because the lynx is a medium-sized wild cat speci...

Maine Coon 'Blizzard' weighs 17 lbs at 11-months-of-age

Image
Another big one! Maine Coon 'Blizzard'. Photo: Twitter. Well, Blizzard looks a lot bigger than 17 pounds but he is being held by a young girl which makes him look larger and he is nearer the camera. He looks enormous though and they say that Maine Coons develop slowly and can take years to reach adulthood and their full-size so I would expect Blizzard to end up being around 25 pounds or more. It looks as though he's a silver tabby of the classic tabby variety.

Maine Coon feet are "well tufted"

Image
The CFA breed standard for legs and feet of the Maine Coon includes the phrase "well tufted" for their feet: LEGS and FEET: legs substantial, wide set, of medium length, and in proportion to the body. Forelegs are straight. Back legs are straight when viewed from behind. Paws large, round, well-tufted . Five toes in front; four in back. Well, here is a nice photograph (which I have presumed is in the public domain) of a glorious grey/silver tabby Maine Coon with well tufted feet.

Silver Tabby and White Maine Coon Cat

Image
Maine coon cat , a photo by fox_kiyo on Flickr. This is the first time I have seen this cat. The photo is directly from Flickr so I have no control as to whether it is deleted at source or not. The cat looks female and she looks pretty. She has no ear tufts - fur at the tip of her ears. I like tufts of of hair at the tips of the Maine Coon ears. They are well known for them! The eyes are orange/copper colored. The eye color need not bear any relationship to the coat color under the breed standard . I am not sure what she is wearing. I think the photographer is from Japan. I presume therefore that the cat lives in Japan. Japan has a decent cat fancy. Helmi Flick was once invited to take photographs there at a cat show. She lives in the USA.
