Stud tail in a Maine Coon cat (video)?

Image
This is a home video showing what looks like stud tail in a Maine Coon. That was not the intention of the video, but my eyes were drawn to the indentation near the base of this superb, plumed tail.   Please note that this is an embedded video which may stop working as it is held on the Reddit.com servers. I can't control that. I have included a screenshot of the video in case that happens. This is an interesting and, in some ways, charming video of a Maine Coon cat playing on the Reddit.com website. I love to see domestic cats playing enthusiastically. However, I noticed that this cat's gloriously plumed tail (for which the Maine Coon is famous) was missing fur towards its base. Does this Maine Coon have stud tail? Image: Screenshot from video. My mind immediately turned to a not uncommon feline health condition called stud tail . I do not know if this attractive Maine Coon is suffering from stud tail, but it looks likely from the video. That is all I can say at the moment. N...

Laid-back Maine Coon wears AIR MUZZLE while being professionally groomed

Image
I learned about the air muzzle from this video. I had no idea what it was until I saw it in the video and wondered what it was called. She mentions it in her commentary but she speaks fast so I had to look it up. And as you can see it stops a cat biting when they are being subjected to professional grooming which can be quite vigorous. I am sure that sometimes cats are somewhat traumatised at professional groomers as they work fast and are quite tough on the cats. And the place is going to be scary to some cats. Air muzzle available online for around £25 in the UK. Probably a similar price in dollars in the USA. Image: in public domain. This Maine Coon has a bit of stud tail which was treated and the nails were trimmed. Afterwards he was given a full shampoo and wash and then a sort of modified lion cut which is a less-severe version. Throughout the treatments the Maine Coon behaved impeccably and I am sure that the vast majority of domestic cats would not behave in such a laid-back wa...

23-pound Maine Coon receives a teddy bear haircut and a blow-dry (video)

Image
This is a cross post because I think that it is a good video and I don't see enough good videos. It's about a pet groomer who has a TikTok account. Judging by what she does in the video I think that she is a good pet groomer. She is considerate and you can tell that she has done a lot of this because she moves quickly and efficiently. 23-pound Maine Coon receives a teddy bear haircut and a blow-dry. Screenshot. Her Maine Coon client is a 23-pound cat whose owner wants a teddy bear haircut and a blow dry. They also want his stud tail treated. Stud tail is a greasy patch at the base of the tail which needs to be regularly washed with medicated shampoo as you see in the video and you can add cornstarch or baby powder to keep it down and stop it becoming too greasy. It won't go away so you've got to treat the condition all the time. @askacatgroomer Meet my “Maine” man #mainecoon #catsoftiktok #cats #catbath #catbathchallenge #catgrooming #catgrooming #pepsiapplepi...
