Picture of three Maine Coon cats watching cat television

Image
I guess you know what feline (cat) television is? In case you think it is the same as human television, it isn't. It is a nice wide window on the world outside. And there should be a nice wide window sill with some soft, cosy bedding on it.  Below the window is a radiator which wafts warm air by convection over the cats as they sit or lie on the window sill and observe the wildlife spectacle outside which probably should include some bird feeders to add a bit of spice to the viewing.  Yes, cat TV is a window and for Maine Coons it is pretty important as a lot of them, the vast majority I suspect, are full-time indoor cats. If they haven't got the use of a catio or an outside enclosure, the only chance to be mentally stimulated by real-life nature is to see the world from behind double-glazed glass. And here we have what I believe are three Maine Coons (and a little fella on the sidelines) who are looking out of a window behind which something interesting is happening by the lo...

Eerie picture of a Maine Coon sitting like a human on a chest of drawers

Image
This is a slightly scary picture according to those who've seen it. One social media user said it was the devil and "If I walked into a room and saw that, I would assume some shit is about to go down". There is a ghostly stillness and sinister feeling about the image. 'Eerie' is a better description. This attractive cat appears to be completely at ease and comfortable sitting on top of a chest of bedroom drawers. The lighting from below (deliberate?) enhances the eerie effect. It seems possible that this is a photo-edited image but if so, it has been done with great skill. However, I don't think this is Photoshopped. Rethink: to be honest, the more I look at the picture, the more I feel that this is a photo-edited image. It is just too unnatural to be real. Although some domestic cats get themselves into some very strange positions. Maine Coon calmly sitting just like a human on a chest of drawers. Picture source unclear. Mr and Mrs Maine Coon and their kitten plus Ms Human who looks after them

Image
I am having a bit of fun but I believe my assessment is correct. In this picture we have the parents of a kitten. They are beautiful ginger tabby Maine Coons. The mother is on the right hand side, the father is on the left and their kitten, is snuggling up to the woman. I believe that this photograph was taken in Russia and therefore the woman is Russian. She actually looks Russian to me by the way. I suspect that she is the breeder of these beautiful cats. It's a great picture on Instagram. Mr and Mrs Maine and kitten plus Ms Human who looks after them. Photo: Instagram.

Comparison of a black smoke Maine Coon at 6 weeks and 6-years-of-age

Image
This is a cross-post as the image is so damned good. It is amazing because the cat is amazing. To put the same cat at different stages of their life in the same photograph is a nice idea especially with this Maine Coon (MC) who has an amazingly heavy face. It is so mightily masculine to be almost unbelievable. He has a priceless expression on his face too. Very serious compared to the innocence of his face when he was 6 weeks old. He looks a bit coy when 6 weeks old and a slightly grumpy middle-aged man when 6 years old. Comparison of a black smoke Maine Coon at 6-weeks and 6-years-of-age. Image in pubic domain. No doubt he is huge too. You get a clear sense of that in the image. There is a serious and less impressive side to this image. It's the backstory that people don't really want to read about and discuss or in fact do anything about: heart ( HCM ) and joint disease. The bigger and heavier the MCs are the more predisposed to heart disease they are. Here is the posts on...

Picture of a Maine Coon looking out of the window

Image
It sort of brings it hope to you, the difference in size of the Maine Coon and regular domestic cats, when they are looking out of the window together. Neat photo. Picture of a Maine Coon looking out of the window. Photo: Pinterest Size is not all, however. Did you know that the Maine Coon is predisposed to suffering from hip dysplasia and that hip dysplasia in Maine Coons could be much reduced if they were selectively bred smaller ? The larger the body mass of the cat the more likely it is that they will have the disease. That's something they don't tell you when afficionados drool over humungous Maine Coons bred in Russia. Apparently 37% of Maine Coons will end up suffering from hip dysplasia according to a study. Click on the link above to see facts about this disease and Maine Coon cats.

Maine Coon swirls as if going down the plug hole in a vortex

Image
Well, I love this cat picture. This swirly girly Maine Coon looks as if she is made of water and is going down the plug hole in a vortex. Cats do like sinks because they press against the sides of the body which cats find reassuring. She is a nice tight fit. More side pressure. Maine Coon swirls as if going down the plug hole in a vortex. Picture: Pinterest. One outstanding feature of the Maine Coon is the plumed tail. She certainly has one and it makes this picture work. I am convinced that she is female as judged by her face. I think she is a special ginger tabby with faint smoky markings; I think she has a smoke coat. Maine Coon with a hint of tiger

Image
This Maine Coon's appearance has a hint of the tiger. The coat reminds me of the tiger's and the relaxed way the cat is lounging adds to the impression. The face is definitely tigerish. This is a super-looking Maine Coon with a grey, striped tabby coat. A very relaxed and confident face. There is a cat breed which is designed to look like a tiger and you may have heard of it. It is the Toyger a.k.a. the toy tiger . The appearance of the Maine Coon is protected by the cat associations because breeders cannot outcross their Maine Coon cats. Outcrossing means breeding with cats of a different breed or random bred cats. This tends to dilute the appearance and takes the appearance away from the breed standard but it is incorporated into breeding to ensure the health of the cat. The tiger and the Maine Coon are almost identical in all respects except for their size and differences in appearance . You probably know by now that the original Maine Coons were barn cats in the 1800s in...
