"Fisher" the Maine Coon cat likes to swim in the waters of Key West

They say that Maine Coons love water and if that is true then this is just another example but I don't believe that all Maine Coons automatically like water. It is a misconception to believe that all cats of one breed are all the same. It is unreasonable to think that because each cat is an individual. Certainly, cat breeders, using line breeding, try and keep their offspring the same as their parents so there might be a certain uniformity in character across all Maine Coons but within that umbrella uniformity there will be a considerable amount of divergence or variance.

Having got that introduction out of the way, this individual Maine Coon whose name is aptly "Fisher" loves to swim and that love of the water almost certainly comes about because he was introduced to it at a very young age. Fisher travels with his family all over the US so he's very much used to a wide variety of landscapes and circumstances. This in itself would make him more tolerant of change and situations that might prove to be a little difficult for many domestic cats.

His owners give him a life jacket to swim with which is quite cute. I guess that that is out of an abundance of caution because domestic cats don't need lifejackets. Fisher also likes paddle boarding and generally messing around on boats. And as is common with many domestic cats he likes to drink from the faucet.

His Instagram account, which is successful, tells me that he is a ginger tabby-and-white cat, with not much white. There is a video on his Instagram page of his owner training him to swim. He is on a float with a lifejacket and he is being pushed around a swimming pool. At the time he looks as though he was about a year old. He has been featured on the website The Dodo.

Note: videos on this site are typically made by people other than me and held on YouTube servers or the servers of other businesses (not the server storing this website). Sometimes the videos are deleted at source which stops them working on this site. If that has happened I apologise but I have no control over it.

Postscript: I have assumed that he is male. I have read nothing about this cat either on the Instagram account or on other websites which tell me his gender! I just think that the name "Fisher" lends itself to being a male but if I'm wrong then I hope someone has the time to tell me in a comment.
