Charming Maine Coon travels in car without seatbelt

Image
Screenshot. The title might sound a bit weird but it isn't. I'll explain but before I do we should enjoy this charming video. The Maine Coon is on the front passenger seat intensely interested in what is going on outside the vehicle. My guess is that this is an indoor cat that doesn't get out in the car a lot so it is nice to see him/her being mentally stimulated and loving every minute of it. But there is this seatbelt observation and I am not being critical because if I were to be critical I'd be a hypocrite as I have allows my cat to do this as well. As for seat belts for cats, it is advisable to attach the harness to a seatbelt for human passengers to prevent a cat from flying around the cabin if the driver has to stop suddenly. And if the cat is in the rear they can be thrown forward and impact the windscreen or the people in the front.  It is wise to harness up a cat who is a passenger. There are various ways one of which is to attach the harness to the seat belt ...

'Monster' - his name - Maine Coon has a unique way of telling his caregiver that he is eager to get walking

Image
'Monster' is a monster! A Maine Coon monster. And he is a black smoke. Basically, it is the same amazing coat type sported by one of the internet's most famous Maine Coons: Richie . And as the video states he has got it into his mind that he needs to jump up onto his caregiver's back as he prepares to take them outside for a walk on a harness and lead, which is a great idea. The perfect way to entertain a full-time indoor Maine Coon. The internet stories about Monster say that he does this to make sure that he is included on the walk but I am not sure. I think he does this because he is excited and he shows it by effervescently jumping up on the man's back because he wants to get involved even before he gets out the front door for that daily and much-loved walk. It is fun and excitement. A clear sign that this caregiver is spot on in terms of the quality of caregiving that he delivers. Anchors away! Watch as two Maine Coon cats set sail

Image
I love the feeling and mood of this video. The cool rippling water. The Maine Coons are enjoying the experience too. They've clearly done this before. And I love to see domestic cats habituated to being outside on a lead doing all kinds of things like dogs.  It is a wonderful way for a cat to make the most of their lives. All that mental stimulation can only be really good for them. It just takes a lot of patience normally to arrive at the point where the cat takes it all in their stride. 2 Maine Coons go sailing and it looks nice. Screenshot. I like their harnesses too. They don't have side panels. I think this may avoid the falling over syndrome that we see sometimes when domestic cats are put in a harness for the first time. They go silly and flop down and become entirely inactive as if zapped. As if the on-switch has been turned off. They (the experts) say that Maine Coons like water. I am not so sure that they like water any more than any other typical domestic cat but if ...

Top 5 escape-proof Maine Coon harnesses

Image
A couple of points initially come to mind in writing this article. Cat harnesses have improved dramatically over the last 10 years. The harnesses featured on this page are much bulkier, wider and more secure than the ones that were available 10 years ago. Of course, they are also more expensive. These are not cheap harnesses. For example, the first one featured cost £45.01 p in the UK. Amazon The links to these harnesses go to Amazon.co.uk. I've checked on Amazon.com and noticed that these exact harnesses are available or the alternatives are very similar. Truly 'escape-proof' is a necessity The most important point about a harness is that it really must be escape proof. It depends upon the cat whether they want to escape which depends upon how athletic and active they are or whether they are placid and affable. I say that Maine Coon cats tend to be placid which is good news for harness training . In my personal experience, and my cat is very athletic, when cats become anxi...

Ginger tabby Maine Coon with huge plumed tail outside on leash

Image
This is a picture of a very impressive Maine Coon cat with a ginger tabby coat, a huge, plumed tail who is enjoying the outside on a leash. It is nice to see such a handsome cat on a leash outside the home. It is the only way such a cat could safely enjoy the outside so this photograph ticks all the boxes. This appears to be a backyard (garden). Ginger tabby Maine Coon with huge plumed tail outside on leash. Photo: Twitter. The most noticeable feature is of, course, the tail and Maine Coons are meant to have tails just like this one: long fur, flowing or in the language of cat breeders "plumed". A tail like this is part of the breed standard and all good cat breeders will aspire to this sort of appearance. It is one of the special features of this breed as is the square muzzle and the large ears which are lynx tipped. The fur should be shaggy (TICA) and there should be lots of tufts of hair sticking out between the toes! I don't know how many try to take their cat outs...
