Nice young guy is unexpectedly given a free Maine Coon kitten from a breeder

Image
Trey is given a super Maine Coon kitten by breeders Mermazing Maine Coons. Screenshot from the video. Breeders 'Mermazing Maine Coons gifted a gorgeous Maine Coon kitten to a nice young man in this video on TikTok. It was unexpected. He really wanted a Maine Coon kitten and was prepared to pay in instalments. He had $300 but needed around $3,000. A lot more. He has been a good guy all his life and it has not been easy for him. The young man's name is Trey. He is a gentle guy it seems to me; ideal for cat caregiving. He'll understand his cat companion and be protective. His mother recently died of cancer we are told and Trey lost his Doberman recently too according to the news media reports. So it has been hard for him. The breeders must have been touched by his story and decided to be very generous and give him a beautiful smoke kitten.  I have a strong feeling as I am sure others do that he'll be an excellent care caregiver. I hope it works out for him and his cat. He ...

Majestic Maine Coon meets the cutest Persian kitten

Image
This is one of those ah... moments. The cutest Persian kitten gingerly sneaks up to a 19-pound, majestic snow-white Maine Coon who looks on with calm disdain. It is a very cute video. And nice to see these two very different cat breeds together in the same video.  The cutest Persian kitten gingerly sneaks up to a majestic snow-white Maine Coon who looks on with calm disdain. Screenshot. This is the first time these two have met. It looks like the Persian kitten is new to the home and the resident cat is the white Maine Coon which is why he is not really very welcoming towards the Persian. It'll take a little while for the resident Maine Coon to accept the little incomer. But for first contact is a success, I'd say. Kitten reaches out to make friends and is rebutted! Screenshot. The kitten really wants to make friends and reaches out to touch the Maine Coon who responds negatively. I have good feeling that things will change and that the Maine Coon will warm to the newcomer and ...

Maine Coon version of THE INCREDIBLE HULK's instant writhing growth is awesome! VIDEO.

Image
From baby Maine Coon to massive monster in 15 seconds in a video. Cool. The time lapse video makes the cat wriggle, writhe and expand like THE INCREDIBLE HULK, the silver screen green giant. A very cool video by the master of Maine Coon media on the internet: Robert Sijka. I don't expect this video to stop working but if it does, I am sorry but I don't control its existence on TikTok (see note below). @robert_sijka From baby to adult in 16s #mainecoon #kitten #cat #felisgallery #robertsijka ♬ original sound - Felis Gallery by Robert Sijka Here is a still image from screenshots. Not only is the video very clever, the cat is damned amazing. The adult is nothing but awesome. And interestingly the coat colour has changed as he grew up. It goes from a steel grey tabby to a ginger/brown tabby. It looks to me like a torbie coat - a tortoiseshell tabby. A fairly rare form of tabby coat. I've just noticed that you can actually see the hint of red orange fur on top of the...

When do I start feeding my Maine Coon cat adult cat food?

Image
When do I start feeding my Maine Coon cat adult cat food? Answer: when they become adults (!) which is latter than normal as they are the biggest domestic cat breed. Kitten foods Because kittens grow rapidly, the average kitten gains half an ounce (14 g) a day. Although this wouldn't apply to a typical Maine Coon cat because they are bigger than normal. They need a growth formula food.  The average domestic cat is basically full-grown and sexually mature at nine months of age but see below. It takes a human about 13 years to reach the same level of growth. The fast growth takes a lot of nutrition. Pic assessed as being in the public domain. 10-week-old kittens need about twice as much protein and 50% more calories per pound than adult cats. At 12 weeks of age a kitten's energy needs are three times that of an adult cat. Kitten food is also formulated with DHA (an omega-3 fatty acid) to help support brain and vision development and it has extra vitamins and minerals to support ...

Why do Maine Coons stop growing later than other domestic cats?

Image
The Internet tells us that Maine Coon cats grow up more slowly than your regular domestic cat. You will see many articles on this. They appear to be repeating each other in saying that Maine Coons do not reach their full size until they are 3-5 years old. Other domestic cats reach their full size and adulthood around 12-18 months of age. So why is this? They don't tell us 😢😒. Or is the information slightly misleading? Another very large Maine Coon with a great coat. Image in the public domain in my view. So, I have to work out the answer myself and it is probably this: there's a slight exaggeration about the development of the Maine Coon to adulthood. It has become a kind of badge of honour for the largest purely domestic cat breed to grow more slowly than normal. And secondly it might take longer to fully grow all of their anatomy because they are bigger.  Perhaps their coat, such as their ruff (mane), continues to develop at year 3 but the rest of the cat has stopped growin...

Maine Coon kitten's first 4 weeks of life in 21 seconds (video)

Newborn red tabby Maine Coon. Screenshot. The newborn kitten meows will soften the hardest heart. This little ginger tabby is growing up to be one of those Maine Coons that has a slightly human face. A Yoda face. OMG he is cute. He is about as cute as a kitten can get. If you want to see a human-faced Maine Coon please click this link. As you may know the ginger tabby cat coat is sex linked. 5 Maine Coon transformations from kitten to adult (video)

Image
Maine Coon kitten and his adult self. Photo: Robert Silka. This is a series of photographs by the very famous Maine Coon photographer: robert_sijka. I think he presents his photographs too dark as there is not enough information in the photographs for my liking but he takes great photographs of great Maine Coon cats. In this series he photographs a kitten and their adult version. Each individual cat is a wonderful example of the Maine Coon breed. I can count five examples. In my experience, these Google Blogger videos only work if you click the centre play button and then, immediately afterwards, the play button bottom-left! It sounds bad but the short video is worth watching.

Chubby-cheeked white Maine Coon kitten

Image
Chubby-cheeked white Maine Coon kitten. Picture: Pinterest and therefore in the public domain. This is an interesting looking Maine Coon kitten.  All Maine Coon kittens tend to look quite rounded and chunky. They become more elongated and elegant when the grow up so we can expect to see this sort of chubbiness but this is exceptional. The ears are already very impressive with huge lynx tips. The muzzle is already pronounced. As expected in a white cat, the eyes are a clear blue. It looks like he or she has rouge on his cheeks as if she has put on makeup.  This is just the vestiges of a pattern that has been masked by the dominant white gene which removes melanin (pigmentation) from the hair strands. White cats don't have white pigment in the hairs but no pigment. A super-looking cat who's no doubt made someone very happy and proud. Timelapse of Maine Coon growing up and regressing to newborn

Image
This is a great timelapse showing a newborn Maine Coon growing up to adulthood and then rapidly regressing to newborn again. It looks strange and interesting. A good idea from Warren Photographic. Warren used morphing software apparently and Freya, the Maine Coon, was filmed over 10 months. Freya does not look a Maine Coon! She looks more like a good-sized, moggy tabby. There are no Maine Coon features such as large lynx-tipped ears and square, pronounced muzzle. It is no big deal as the video's success is the timelapse but I think Warren has been told something which is not true. Or Freya is a poor example of the Maine Coon cat breed. No criticism meant. I am simply commenting.

Maine Coon kitten with a hint of Yoda

Image
This is a Maine Coon with a wise, knowing smile. He has a faint hint of Yoda from the Star Wars saga. Maine Coon kitten with a hint of Yoda. Screenshot from Pinterest video. This little Maine Coon, a kitten I guess, is in that stable of Maine Coon cats who give us the distinct impression that there is a human being inside trying to get out. This little fella has a very faint but wise smile on his face. He looks at the camera as if he understands humans. He's a bit bemused by human behaviour and so he should be because it can be bizarre at times. He's very passive as he is held up on one hand by the breeder, who is also the photographer. She videos him using her other hand. He looks directly into the camera without a problem. I wish my cat could do that. When I bring my camera to my eye he runs away. I might just get one shot in before he meows at me as if to say "F off" and then trots off. He thinks I am stealing his soul. That's not the case with this guy. He...

Teeny Maine Coon kitten with a hint of Einstein

Image
Here he is, the teeny-tiny Maine Coon who licked an electrical socket :) . That's the comment of a funnyman on the Reddit.com website. They say this little fella or girl is a Maine Coon but I have no idea is that is actually the case (where are the ears for example!?). It does not matter an awful lot because this is about the face and the backlit hair. The expression is priceless. The eye color is super as it matches the fur colour. He/she is some sort of tabby cat I believe. Teeny tiny Maine Coon kitten named Tony. Photo: Reddit.com An awesome little cat who must be the cutest on the internet today. There is a hint of Einstein in there somewhere. It's the shaggy coat. Maine Coons are meant to have medium-longhaired shaggy coats. But where are the ears! Is this a Scottish Fold!? Could be unless the ears are hidden by the fur with is 'burnt out' photographically speaking. Photo in the public domain on Pinterest. This is Einstein, the great man whose general theory of ...

Black silver blotched tabby Maine Coon kitten made in Russia

Image
This is a Maine Coon kitten described by his creator as: Silver boy Xavier, black silver blotched (ns22), 1,5 months. The breeder: Людмила Вяткина - ArmanPride Maine Coon cattery in Vladimir, Russia. I believe that 'ns22' is a reference to the WCF breed standard coat type. Silver blotched tabby Maine Coon kitten made in Russia. Either the lighting has produced this rusty coloured fur or the fur is indeed that colour. I think the latter assessment is correct which makes this big-footed, beautiful Maine Coon kitten so impressive. He's a tabby. You can tell quite clearly because of the 'M' mark on the forehead. I have said it before. The Russians breed the best Maine Coon cats. They are the most impressive. It's ironic bearing in mind the new Cold War between Russia and America and that the Maine Coon cat is their beloved American cat.

Maine Coon kitten with whopping ear furnishings

Image
What the hell are 'ear furnishings'? One of the features that a Maine Coon (MC) should have if they are bred to be in line with the CFA breed standard is well developed ear furnishings. I've used the phrase "ear furnishings" because that is the sort of phrase we hear in the cat fancy. Of course, I'm not referring to sofas and armchairs in a person's home. I'm specifically referring to the long hair inside the ear flap of this highly popular cat companion. But ear furnishings also applies to the tufts of hair sticking out of the tops of the ear flaps - these are lynx tipped ears. Maine Coon kitten with whopping ear furnishings. Screenshot. It's remarkable in some ways that the MC breed standard demands that the cat has hairy ears! That is what it comes down to. All men have their ear hair trimmed and removed whereas Maine Coon breeders use their best efforts to achieve the opposite. The CFA breed standard with respect to ears states: Shape: large...

Cuteness overload - very passive Maine Coon kitten in video. Why? How?

Image
Photo: Robert Sijka This Maine Coon kitten is so cute but also so slow-moving. I wondered when I first saw the video if this kitten had been tranquilized in some way or other. The video was made by a well-known photographer of cats whose name is Robert Sijka. He does take the most wonderful photographs of the most wonderful Maine Coon cats. This is an example. But it can help to slow down a cat when photographing them alone. If you have a wrangler it's fine but alone it is hard to control the camera, the lighting and the cat simultaneously and successfully. @robert_sijka Cuteness overload. ##mainecoon ##kittens ##cat ##catsoftiktok ##felisgallery ♬ paparazzi - Nick&Sienna🌹 The picture i.e. the still picture is a screenshot from the video. However, this photographer does make super high-quality images. You just wonder how the photographer got this sweet kitten to stay still this long in order to make this video. Is it normal for such a young kitten to be this p...

Young Maine Coon looks wise beyond his years

Image
By photographer Robert Sijka. Great work. This is one of those Maine Coons with a human face and it happens to be a young one who looks wise beyond his years. It's like looking at a human child who has grown up too quickly and will no doubt become a star at something because they are always talented. It's like looking at Mozart but a feline version! The photographer is superb and he has taken many beautiful photographs of Maine Coon cats. Of course, he has been successful in sourcing some wonderful animals. Perhaps he knows a fantastic breeder who has created a long line of beautiful Maine Coons. I don't know but his photographs have been published widely on the Internet. Always adopt from a shelter :)  . I know I am praising a cat breeder and suggesting that you only adopt rescue cats but that is the nature of this: I love great looking cats but my heart is tender for rescues. The latter always wins.

Maine Coon Kitten

Image
This is another beautiful Maine Coon kitten picture. I like this one better than the other one because this kitten looks to me more "typey". By this I mean this young cat looks like he or she will have the classic Maine Coon face and shaggy haired appearance when she grows up. She look like a female to me. Maine Coon Kitten - Photo  by  Barbarella - The Mad Cat Lady Also, for me there are two noticeable features of the Maine Coon. She already has distinctive tufts of fur from the tips of her ears and there is plenty of ear hair in the ear ("ear furnishing"). And the muzzle - the front part of the face - look very Maine Coonish to me. She seems to be a brown tabby and white kitten.

Cute Maine Coon Kitten

Image
This is a nice photograph of a grey tabby and white Maine Coon kitten taken by Flickr photographer;  VirtKitty . Maine Coon Kitten What do I see? I guess what is most noticeable at this young age is what cat fanciers call, "ear furnishings". Ear hair to you and me. One of the distinctive features of the Maine Coon is the tuft of hair that comes out of the ear flap (the external part of the ear). You can see the beginnings of some great ear furnishings! In this photo he is 8 weeks old. Thanks for letting me publish the photo.

Rangy Large Cute Cat

Image
Say "Hello" to Winston! , a photo by foxypar4 on Flickr. The Maine Coon is a rangy cat with tufts of hair coming out of the tips of the ears! Are those the two things that stick in my mind when I think of the Maine Coon? Perhaps. They are certainly the two things that stare me in the face when I look at Winston in this photo. He has Maine Coon written all over him. Despite being a twelve week old kitten at the time of the photo he looks rangy, long legged and, well....large! He has that cute Maine Coon inquisitive face too. If you look at Maine Coon pics all day you can tell a Maine Coon face. They are very distinctive even when compared to the similar cat breeds such as the Norwegian Forest Cat and Siberian. They have a distinctive square muzzle to me in any case. That is not cat fancy stuff, just layperson observation.

Maine Coon Kitten Picture

Check out this very cute Maine Coon kitten picture. I use it to illustrate a page on how much it costs to adopt a Maine Coon cat. Some people think they can acquire a Maine Coon cat for free. You can't when you realistically factor in all the expenses and then the maintenance of the cat. Maine Coon Kitten - photo by BerylM (Flickr) - I am in love! See Free Maine Coon Kittens a page that this cat illustrates. There are plenty of comments.
