Steve Zaillian, the director of the new Netflix series "Ripley", said that the cat in the series needed to be recast twice before he was initially unhappy. He said that owners would bring cats into the office believing that they could do some tricks but what he wanted "was a cat that could just be really chill, and comfortable with people and cameras." Here is a nice little video which is on Twitter X of the celebrated and much loved, ginger Maine Coon, Nacho , who recently passed over the rainbow bridge. His caregiver who survives him is Bobby Flay who is as celebrated - or more so - than Nacho. Mr Flay was devastated . The celebrity chef and entrepreneur founded his premium cat food brand in 2021 and named it after his beloved Maine Coon. He is also known for being the caregiver of Nacho and a cat lover. He is one of those celebs who owns a Maine Coon. There aren't that many on my reckoning. It is with an absolute broken heart that I report Nacho has passed away peacefully. He announced on Instagram five days ago the passing of Nacho. And he really, really loved this cat. It went deep so he is badly cut up by Nacho's passing. It is very sad to read the story. But what I immediately noticed was Nacho's age when he died: 9! This is about half the age of a moggy with a good lifespan. We are not told the cause of death but I can guess: HCM. Heart disease to which this very popular breed is genetically predisposed and they should not be. It is a travesty that Maine Coons should be dying at 9-years-of-age. This is far too young. It is perhaps ironic to note that it is hard to discover a celebrity who lives with a Maine Coon cat. This cat breed is celebrated all over the planet for its impressive size and appearance. They have a lovely character and they bestow upon the owner a status which arguably other cats don't.  And there are probably more celebrity Maine Coons cats that for any other breed.  'MC' stands for Maine Coon. Richie is currently the world's most celebrate MC. The reason is clear: he looks like something from Mars. He looks a bit like a black-faced lemur with bright, white fur. Everything about his appearance is remarkable. His coat is black smoke but his black face is a bonus. Black smoke coats are not unusual but combine it with Richie's black face and gold/diamond eyes plus the copious amounts of fur and you have a unique and outstanding appearance. His full name is Richie du Mont d’Even. He is referred to as the lemur or yeti cat by his caregiver. It is not just the black face and smoke coat; it is the quantity of it! Look at the mass of smokey fur surrounding the face. It is a great sea of thick, extra-long fur.  Grooming comes to mind. And I mean grooming by humans! I'd expect Richie's caregiver to groom him twice a day. He has to be groomed that regularly because he is photographed and videoed so much for his Instagram page which is...

Here is Richie, the Maine Coon, on TikTok. It gives his admirers the chance to see his amazing fur as his owner plays with it. It looks like a very enjoyable (for both) experience and very tactile. It is nice to see him moving. As usual he looks stunning. He's a lemur-Maine Coon hybrid! 😉.  In this video his caregiver messes around with his extraordinary fur. It is by some miracle of genetics that Richie was created because his appearance always astounds me. It is as if he was created on another planet. Kesha is an American singer and songwriter. Her full name is Kesha Rose Sebert. She has the usual social media websites. She has a very good photographer who might be her partner, Brad, or somebody else because her Instagram pages are littered with really excellent photographs of a wide range of style-types.  Kesha lives with two Maine Coons and a Siamese cat. Omar is Australia's celebrity Maine Coon. He's enormous as you can see in the photographs. I think he's the biggest domestic cat in Australia and in 2017 there was talk about him being the world's longest domestic cat at 3'11"! But I don't really care too much about these records because they are a bit artificial. He has a successful Instagram account - as he would - because people love big Maine Coons. Omar is a beautiful ginger tabby-and-white Maine Coon cat living in Melbourne, Australia with his human companions and a calico cat called Strudel (a.k.a. Ru). He is a celebrity cat, which is unsurprising because he looks like a celebrity; a glamour boy. He is made for celebrity status but then aren't all the huge Maine Coon cats that we see on the Internet? They have this presence which immediately catches the eye. I have one of these cat strollers ( see it heading a website by clicking on this link ). And it is particularly nice, partly for that reason, to see this man take his outstanding and enormous Maine Coon cat in a stroller into New York City. He is a laid-back cat and his name is Samson for obvious reasons. The man who owns Samson -- wrong words, lives with and is the servant of -- wants to make him as famous as possible and so he has an Instagram account with over 100,000 followers.  Samson is a huge Maine Coon living in an apartment in NYC who gets taken out in a cat stroller to the delight of the residents. And of course, there is this YouTube video and I'm sure other outlets which help to promote this beautiful chocolate brown bicolour coated Maine Coon. He seems to be living in an apartment in NYC. Lotus is well known on the internet. I don't know if he is male or she is female! It sounds like a female name so here goes. She is one of those celebrity cats and genuinely enormous. At the top end of Maine Coon size which these days does indeed mean enormous. She is the size of a bobcat but not as heavy. And the Maine Coon is the largest but not all of them are as magnificent as Lotus. She is special. And being female (if I am correct on gender) makes her more special. Marty was a black Maine Coon cat whose home was the Mount Washington Observatory which is situated at the US Northeast's highest peak at 6,288 feet. He lived there for a dozen years as the Observatory's mascot cat. There were plans for him to retire from his mountain home in early 2021. He was loved and a special companion to the staff at the Observatory. The Operations Manager Rebecca Scholand said that he had to succumbed an "unforeseen illness".
