About Robert Sijka the man who photographs his wife's stunning Maine Coons

Image
This is a brief article on the man who rapidly became known on the Internet for being a Maine Coon cat photographer. His images and slow-motion videos of amazing Maine Coon kittens and adult cats started to appear on the internet a couple of years ago (for me) and we were all impressed by the cats which I have learnt are bred by his wife and that is how he became a Maine Coon photographer. One of his photos of an amazing black smoke Maine Coon kitten called YOGA. Image: Robert Sijka. For me the image is too dark. The darkness of the image is for effect but I prefer more visual information. My eye searches for visual information but it is too dark to find. Although he is known for these stunning Maine Coon photos (too dark for me by the way) he is a nature and pet photographer.  He lives in Hong and Guangzhou, China but is an international photographer. By the way Guangzhou is in the south of China and is known for the region where cats and dogs are mercilessly abused before being k...

Beautiful picture of a rare snow-white deaf Maine Coon

Image
I recently wrote about white cats being bad mothers ! The reasoning is straightforward: white cats are often deaf and being deaf they cannot respond in a timely way to their kitten's cries for attention. This is a barrier to being a good mother. And my mind turned to a photograph by Helmi Flick, a very well-known American show cat photographer, of a white Maine Coon cat. As I recall it was one of her first assignments as a professional cat photographer. She peached it and got a great result. It is as if the cat is floating like a cloud against a deep blue sky. She used an Olympus camera. She uses Canon nowadays or did. She lives in Fort Worth metroplex, Dallas, Texas. I'm told that this cat was or is (if still alive) deaf. That would have to be expected. The chances of being deaf depends upon whether the cat has two blue eyes, odd-eyes i.e. one yellow and one blue or both yellow.  A high proportion of all-white cats with two blue eyes will be deaf because the cochlea of the inn...

5 Maine Coon transformations from kitten to adult (video)

Image
Maine Coon kitten and his adult self. Photo: Robert Silka. This is a series of photographs by the very famous Maine Coon photographer: robert_sijka. I think he presents his photographs too dark as there is not enough information in the photographs for my liking but he takes great photographs of great Maine Coon cats. In this series he photographs a kitten and their adult version. Each individual cat is a wonderful example of the Maine Coon breed. I can count five examples. In my experience, these Google Blogger videos only work if you click the centre play button and then, immediately afterwards, the play button bottom-left! It sounds bad but the short video is worth watching.

Attractive Maine Coon well photographed with a toy mouse in her mouth

Image
This is a really well captured photograph of an attractive bicolour (chocolate brown-and-white) Maine Coon on a nice staircase with a toy mouse in her mouth. The staircase matches the dark areas of her coat. Her owner says that she likes to play with the mouse up and down the staircase which I thought wasn't that unusual. Perhaps the steps create an added dimension and complication to the game which makes it more exciting and stimulating for her. The owner/caregiver calls the toy a 'string toy'. Handsome Maine Coon well photographed with a toy mouse in her mouth. Photo credit: see below. The photographer did a really good job because, photographically speaking, the highlights in the white fur are not burnt out. You can see some detail in them and in the shadows; both are well-managed. That is the sign of a good photograph, technically speaking. So often we see dead shadows and burned-out highlights which ruin the quality. Such a beautiful cat requires a well-taken photo...

Comparison of a black smoke Maine Coon at 6 weeks and 6-years-of-age

Image
This is a cross-post as the image is so damned good. It is amazing because the cat is amazing. To put the same cat at different stages of their life in the same photograph is a nice idea especially with this Maine Coon (MC) who has an amazingly heavy face. It is so mightily masculine to be almost unbelievable. He has a priceless expression on his face too. Very serious compared to the innocence of his face when he was 6 weeks old. He looks a bit coy when 6 weeks old and a slightly grumpy middle-aged man when 6 years old. Comparison of a black smoke Maine Coon at 6-weeks and 6-years-of-age. Image in pubic domain. No doubt he is huge too. You get a clear sense of that in the image. There is a serious and less impressive side to this image. It's the backstory that people don't really want to read about and discuss or in fact do anything about: heart ( HCM ) and joint disease. The bigger and heavier the MCs are the more predisposed to heart disease they are. Here is the posts on...

My Maine Coon compared to my 5'5" girlfriend

Image
This is not my girlfriend but the girlfriend of Reddit user: u/Paradisity . And he takes a good cat photograph. He's got a nice smartphone I expect. The modern phone has amazingly competent photographic qualities incorporating large sensors at around 50 million pixels and super sensitive chips able to take photos in dark conditions. They are as good as the best 35mm SLR digital cameras. Everyone can be a very competent photographer nowadays. The photo reinforces the belief that the big Maine Coons (and not all Maine Coons are huge) can be enormous will a head size that approaches that of humans. Young Maine Coon looks wise beyond his years

Image
By photographer Robert Sijka. Great work. This is one of those Maine Coons with a human face and it happens to be a young one who looks wise beyond his years. It's like looking at a human child who has grown up too quickly and will no doubt become a star at something because they are always talented. It's like looking at Mozart but a feline version! The photographer is superb and he has taken many beautiful photographs of Maine Coon cats. Of course, he has been successful in sourcing some wonderful animals. Perhaps he knows a fantastic breeder who has created a long line of beautiful Maine Coons. I don't know but his photographs have been published widely on the Internet. Always adopt from a shelter :)  . I know I am praising a cat breeder and suggesting that you only adopt rescue cats but that is the nature of this: I love great looking cats but my heart is tender for rescues. The latter always wins.
