Attractive woman with extraordinarily long nails handles an extraordinarily large black Maine Coon cat who's extraordinarily chilled out

If you know Maine Coon cats you know that they are chilled out in front of the camera. You don't have to look far on the Internet to see videos of enormous Maine Coon cats looking super-chilled when being handled by their owner to show off the massive anatomy of these beautiful domestic cats.  It seems to be part of their character. It may be in part a result of the fact that these are purebred Maine Coon cats which have been created and raised by breeders who have a duty to ensure that their kittens are fully socialised to humans. These breeders appear to be doing a very good job to socialise their kittens. RELATED: Maine Coon cats have placid characters. Discuss . The cat in the video is two years old which is young but you can see he is enormous and I believe still growing!  You can see a tiny bit of "rust" (redness) in the coat which is not untypical of black cats. You can read about that condition on a page I wrote some time ago now [ link to article ].  When it is b...

White and ginger tabby Maine Coon parents create a family: 2 white, 2 ginger tabbies and 1 black kitten

Image
This is a quite a cool video from TikTok as it shows us the range of coat types that can surprisingly be seen in kittens when their parents have different coats to their kittens. The video comes from PNW.Whiskers Cattery [ link ]. The mother is white. They breeder says that the mother is black but the presence of the W gene masks the black rendering the cat white. Click this to see a page on cat with white coats . You probably know that there is a good chance that a white cat can be deaf. It depends on various factors. I have a page on that too if it interests you. Click here to read the page . And why are cats with blue eyes deaf? Click this to find out . Note: white cats often have blue eyes. White cats have light-coloured eyes in shades of blue, gold, green, and copper This accounts for the white and black kittens. The 2 ginger tabby kittens come from their father's side as he is a ginger tabby. Ginger tabbies are nearly always males. Here they are. The white kitten at the front...

Can Maine Coon cats be black?

Image
Yes, Maine Coon cats can be black under all breed standards in those of the CFA and TICA. Here is a good example: Black Maine Coon photograph by Helmi Flick. This cat is not jet black as we see in the Bombay. Although the lightness in the coat on the chest is due to the light from behind the cat shining through the hair strands. The fact is that this 3rd most popular cat breed in the USA is recognised in all colours and divisions of the traditional category. This translates to an enormous range of coat colours and patterns. I have a page which lists them!  Please click this link to see it . But if you want to see the CFA breed standard for the Maine Coon which lists the entire range of coat colours and patterns please click on this link . Most early Maine Coons from the early 1900s were brown tabbies. Many people still prefer tabby Maine Coons as they look the most natural as this cat was a farm cat originally before they became pedigree cats. Over time other patterns and col...

Black Maine Coon Halloween kitten

Image
This photograph is published here with Warren Photographic's written permission. He is a specialist animal photographer. I'm not altogether sure that this sweet, little black kitten is a Main Coon but I don't know because they develop into an adult Maine Coon appearance. I am one day late because Halloween was yesterday but just about within the limit of justifying publishing the picture today, the day after. It's a nice picture particularly as the cat is black. We all know the inherent dangers for black cats at this time because of superstitions over witchcraft. Yes, it is still possible that somebody, somewhere is practising witchcraft, a throwback to the Dark Ages when there were real witches who were killed out of the superstitions of ignorant Christians. I say "real" witches. In my opinion they weren't real at all because witchcraft doesn't really exist. But that's another topic.
