History of the Maine Coon

The Maine Coon is considered an American cat because it has a long history in the USA. It goes back at least approximately 400 years and perhaps considerably longer. Although 400 years ago the predecessor to the Maine Coon was not a Maine Coon but an English long haired or semi-longhaired Moggie (random bred cat).
