Maine Coon breeder in Kentucky charges $1000 for a European Maine Coon
This is another little snippet of information from the Internet, this time YouTube. It comes from a YouTube channel "Life with Maine Coon Cats". The lady talks about her Maine Coon, Molly, which she describes as a European Maine Coon. She implies that there is a difference between European and American Maine Coons. I think you could add that there is a difference between Russian Maine Coons and their counterparts in both Europe and America. They are not big differences.
WHAT SHOULD A MAINE COON LOOK LIKE?
Note: This is a video from another website. Sometimes they are deleted at source which stops them working on this site. If that has happened, I apologise but I have no control over it.
She says that people are interested in how much they cost and I get that. The cost of a Maine Coon is constantly going up slightly year-on-year because of popularity. It's market forces and inflation, I guess. She paid $1,000 for Molly and the video is dated October 3, 2019. The price of the Maine Coon and indeed any other purebred cat depends upon the quality of the cat.
Sometimes they are more expensive than $1000 and sometimes they are cheaper. Just make sure that you buy a genuine Maine Coon. I have an article about what a Maine Coon should look like which you can read by clicking on the link above the video, if you wish.
The lady correctly recommends that adopters should do due diligence to use a commercial term before by a purebred cat. She says that you can do a FaceTime interview with the breeder and see the kittens too on FaceTime i.e. a remote communication. If the breeder is a long way away that is perhaps the only thing you can do but there's no substitute for visiting the home of a breeder and interacting with the cats in person. I think that that should be a basic requirement. It is a big deal adopting any cat. Investing in the time to do it properly is worth it.
