A Maine Coon breeder who sells trained Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) for those in need

Some people who want to adopt a Maine Coon might be thinking about adopting an emotional support animal at the same time. And as it happens, the character of the Maine Coon is highly suited to being an emotional support animal (ESA).

See the video below for the story behind this picture. Screenshot.

Video showing Maine Coon ESA at work (UK)

Here is a really nice video of a beautiful relationship between an ESA Maine Coon and a girl in the UK. What a great recommendation for the Maine Coon as an ESA. This is an amazing story and this Maine Coon likes water (do they all?) which was handy as the girl didn't. The young girl was frightened of water until she became best friends with her cat. It's great, isn't it?

Ultimately this is a question of character and to be fair there are many non-pedigree cats with a character equally suited to the role. It's just a question of finding the individual.

However, my knowledge of the Maine Coon cat (MC) personality indicates to me that they are probably more predisposed to the role than the average domestic cat.

Maine Coon breeder in USA specialising in ESA Maine Coons!

This is because the MC has, in general, a docile and gentle temperament. This is confirmed by a Maine Coon cat breeder who is, I believe, based in San Diego, USA. The contact number is at the base of the page if that interest you.

It seems that they initially became acquainted with the Maine Coon cat when they were looking for an emotional support animal (ESA). They became breeders on my understanding when they selected a Maine Coon cat for the role.

The breeding cattery is called MicoleCoon. The mother was looking for an ESA to support her daughter who is on the autism spectrum. They were looking for a quiet and affectionate animal to support her.

Having selected the Maine Coon breed as appropriate they looked for a breeder that particularly bred and raised Maine Coon kittens to serve as ESAs. The search proved fruitless but eventually they found a local breeder and adopted a male Maine Coon cat called Yondu who had a very positive effect upon her daughter.

Maine Coons make excellent ESAs

They decided then to offer the same kind of trained ESA Maine Coon cat to other families. They confirmed that Maine Coon cats make excellent ESAs.

The cat has to be quiet and non-intrusive. Their role is simply to help support an individual suffering from, for example, autism through difficult moments and events. Such an event might bring on a panic attack or anxiety. Or the individual might suffer from PTSD or have phobias or mood disorders.

This is where a beautiful, friendly Maine Coon cat with a calm presence can really help.

This breeder's cattery may interest people living in the USA and in particular in the San Diego area (if I am correct in saying that this is where they live) and if so, you can make an application to adopt one of their kittens provided you have evidence of a mental and/or emotional need for an ESA.

They prepare selected kittens for the role. They state that there must be at least four kittens in a litter and they select one from that litter to be an ESA candidate and thereafter they provide additional experience to prepare them. That sounds like a really useful service to me.
