Myztic Coons a CFA cattery of excellence, O‘ahu, Hawaii, USA
I thought I'd check out some Maine Coon catteries. This may help adopters/buyers. The Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) operate a two-tier approval programme: CFA Approved Cattery and CFA Cattery of Excellence.

Location
I'm looking at the CFA catteries of excellence in this article. One of those is Myztic Coons and as mentioned they are based on the island of O‘ahu, Hawaii, USA. Hawaii is a US state.
Double registered
They are actually a double registered cattery both with the CFA and The International Cat Association (TICA).
They are a "closed cattery" meaning I guess that you can't just turn up and have a look at it. You have to make an appointment to visit but they provide videos of their kittens and cattery on request.
Polydactyl
An interesting aspect of this breeding cattery is that they specialise in polydactyl Maine Coon cats. And their foundation cats come Europe so, on my assessment, they breed the European Maine Coon which also on my assessment is a little more interesting than the American version (personal viewpoint).

Foundation cats
Their 'sire' (male foundation cat for breeding purposes) is a polydactyl silver-white cat. They describe the cat as 6/6/6/6. I take that to mean that the cat has six toes on each paw making 24 toes in all. A true polydactyl. Polydactylism is a benign inherited condition due to a genetic mutation. The Maine Coon is linked to polydactyly.
The female foundation breeding cat - the "queen" - is a "normal Maine Coon beautiful multi-color tortie". She is a tortoiseshell cat.
Genetic diseases
I would expect, therefore, that the coat types that the foundation cats create are interesting. They say that their cats are DNA screened using the Wisdom Panel. This is a recognised screening programme in America which I have written about before [link].
Both the foundation cats, they say, are negative for hip dysplasia and spinal muscular atrophy and also negative for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and Erythrocyte Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency (PK). These are known genetically inherited disease for the Maine Coon. So, it is nice to see these checks being carried out which is what one would expect from a cattery of excellence.
Approval program
The CFA approved cattery program entails a veterinarian visiting the cattery of completing a form which is then supplied to the CFA. The cattery owner pays a $20 fee. So, this cattery has been checked by a veterinarian which is reassuring.
Prices
They don't provide prices and I sense that they have more demand than they can meet. You would go on a waiting list. You can apply using their form to purchase one of their kittens and then you wait. I suspect, too, that they are quite picky. Perhaps because they can afford to be as demand is greater than supply.
This article is not a promotion of this cattery because they don't need promoting.
Collecting/shipping
After purchase, you can collect your kitten from the cattery in person. You can send a cat carrier to them early so the kitten can get used to it. Or they will ship within Hawaii or to the US mainland by arrangement in the cabin they say. They don't provide prices for that service. But the shipping costs are borne by the purchaser.
