381,000 Likes for black Maine Coon licking his paw. White fur and 'rust' also.

I must be missing something because I am unsure how this video ramped up almost 400k Likes. But then he is a gorgeous Maine Coon with paws that remind me of those on the Canada lynx - big and furry for protection against the cold. Tufted paws are a vital feature of the Maine Coon as per the breed standard.

The video is very short as well. Nothing happens except this gorgeous Maine Coon licks his right paw which tells you how popular this cat breeder is.

It's the most popular cat breed in the UK and 3rd most popular in the USA under different surveys. The breed's popularity is increasing year on year.

It would not surprise me if the Maine Coon becomes the most popular cat breed in the world over the next couple of years. This is partly because they are probably the most discussed cat breed on the Internet. They are probably the most videoed cat breed on the Internet as well 💕.

White fur in black cats

There is an interesting little feature concerning this cat. You can see that the cat is black and there is an area below his head where there is some white fur. Dr. Desmond Morris discusses the reason why most black cats nowadays have some white fur unless they are specifically selectively bred to be jet black which applies to the Bombay cat.

I have a page on the reason why and on the page is an Infographic which are present below. This explains in a highly summarised form why most black cats have some white somewhere according to this renowned author and zoologist.

Rust!

This Maine Coon has some 'rust' in his coat by which I mean the black fur has become red in parts. This is not untypical of black cats. If you want to know more about this please click on the link below.

Claws

Another feature that I like about this Maine Coon is that he has retained his claws. I wonder how many Maine Coon owners declaw cats. I would hope very, very few. Although declawing cats is very common in the United States sadly. Very sadly. It is an abomination. But when you buy a purebred Maine Coon he or she is perfect and you don't want to modify their anatomy do you?
